During cataract surgery the cloudy lens (which sits just behind the iris) is removed and replaced with a clear lens. (usually a monofocal foldable lens)
This improves the clarity of vision but spectacles are almost always required for near and intermediate vision. For people who prefer to wear spectacles for reading, this is still a treatment option.
Refractive Cataract Surgery not only improves clarity, without inducing or increasing astigmatism, but also aims to reduce existing refractive problems such as astigmatism or long / short sightedness. This involves using advanced surgical techniques and special lens implants.
Mr Aggarwal uses a range of multifocal and accommodative implants to acheive optimal results.
Because everyone's requirements are different, a full length consultation and range of visual assessments are carried out to determine which style of lens or combination of lenses will produce the best result. This is sometimes referred to as the 'Custom Lens' Option.
